Goal:
The goal of this workshop to help students to enhance their modeling capabilities using machine learning. Starting with fundamental ideas in machine learning, our approach in this course is to apply the underlying concepts, math, and tools of machine learning to real applications. These applications are intentionally made to be challenging. The applications cover a variety of industrial domains in education, finance, healthcare, social media, and genetics. We will spend substantial time to the student how to build a model through the process of problem identification, transformation, and model validation. At the end of the course, we expect students can independently to apply Machine Learning to solve a problem they choose.
For each business application, the workshop will first focus on the theoretical and algorithm, followed by the real examples with python Jupyter notebooks.
